Pinewood Derby

pinewoodderby

Here is my Cheese Wedge car from last year’s race.

Every year the Cub Scouts in my town do a annual car race, called The Pinewood Derby. The boys race cars they have built at home. They also have races for Cub Scout’s siblings.  I have been to a few races myself ,and there is so much creativity in those cars! Here is a Scouting website with great Pinewood Derby car photos.

At the end of racing they announce who will be going on tho the regionals. and if you win the regionals, you go to city, then state. One of my friends went to regionals last year. I heard It was awesome. Good luck to all the future racers!

Hawaii

HawaiiI haven’t been posting  much… But now I have brand new experience to share!! We were in Hawaii on the island Oahu, and had a blast! I had been to Kona before but but I don’t remember much. We had to move around a lot but we got to see different parts of the island that way. Instead of me listing what we did every day, I’ll tell you my favorite things that we did.

We went up to the North Shore and found this little lava-rock protected area. We climbed in the rocks and when the tide comes in we jumped off, into the surf. So fun!!!

Dole Plantation

Driving back from the North Shore, we stopped at…. The Dole Plantation! We went to the maze they have there. It’s the world’s largest maze, has 2.34 miles of pathway, and made of more than  1,000 local Hawaiian plants. We also went on a plantation  train called the Pineapple Express, and saw lots of pineapple growing in huge fields. The last thing we did was go in a Plantation Garden  with all these cool plants. We saw lots of Birds Of Paradise, Koi in ponds, and lots of Ti Leaves. We also had lunch there and the Dole Whip is really good!

A few days later, we moved back to Waikiki and one day we walked to the Honolulu Zoo. We saw  White Handed Gibbon and the Siamang Gibbon who were howling a lot! I asked a zoo keeper if they normally do this. She said that the howling or singing is normal and that what they were doing is singing a territorial song.  The White Handed Gibbons would usually start and then the Siamang Gibbons  would then follow.

One of my MOST favorite days was the day we went to Pearl Harbor. We went to the USS Arizona Memorial built over the old glorious ship that sunk in World War II. If you look closely, you can still see oil leaking  out of the ship. We also went on an audio tour of the USS Bowfin Submarine!

Lastly, we saw the Vans Triple Crown Of Surfing at one of the beaches in Halewa.

Moms mummy dogs.
Agh! there bleeding!

Halloween is in the air!  For dinner last night my mom made Mummy Dogs (see picture). The mummy dogs were awesome!!! Then it was time to be  out and about. We ventured thorough the neighborhood until we were pooped. When we got back we counted our candy and sorted it by brand. My total amount was 84 pieces. My brother’s candy total was 112. I skipped a few  houses on the way back because I was tired.  Total candy haul: 196. Wow!

How To “Boo” People

boobags

In our neighborhood we have a tradition of “booing” people. Booing people is like leaving people little gift but they are anonymous. Here are some rules that would be good to follow…

  1. If you can, try not to be seen.  You can have fun and try not to be seen while doing everyday activities like walking your pet, or walking to a store.
  2. You should  leave some treats like candy, pencils, erasers, etc.
  3. Try to leave a note saying something but be anonymous. It’s fun to try to guess who left the treats!
  4.  You can make up a poem instead of a note if you would like.
  5. Have fun doing it!

I hope you have fun starting the “Booing” tradition!!

HALLOWEEN!!!!

Halloween Tissue Paper Pumpkin Cards

It’s Halloween time!!! Are you a total Halloween fan? I like to decorate our home with some cute little crafts I’d like to share. You can make curly leafs out of paper and hang them on a tree out doors or on a mini tree like my family does, or you could tape crepe paper to paper spiders and hang them to doorways . You could also make some super cool Halloween tissue paper cards (in picture). I hope you  have a good Halloween!!

Where to get Rainbow Loom supplies

rainbow loom

I don’t know about you, but I  run out of Rainbow Loom bands super fast. Here are some store comparisons for the best prices…

RAINBOW LOOM BANDS:

I wouldn’t suggest  getting  them at Michael’s craft store because they are about 3.00 for a pack of 300 rubber bands. Instead, go to A.C. Moore they have packs of 300 for $1.99. I think they also have a better selection.

ORGANIZERS:

The rubber band containers are a little bit more money, so I use bead containers.

GET THE KIT:

Michael’s, Walmart, Amazon are good places to buy the Rainbow Loom kit. Also Toys R Us has them too but they are called Cra-Z Loom but you can do the same stuff.Rainbow Loom and Cra-Z Loom are a little different in design.

Decide where you want to get supplies. Sometimes you want to make it easy. Other times you want to save your money.
